I’m coming home tomorrow. Actually, it’s the day after tomorrow but my journey begins tomorrow because I have to go to Copenhagen and catch a straight flight from there.

I find myself in between job, internships and freelancing and I have to prioritize them as needed but I assume it’s going to constantly be a temporary prioritization.

And just when I thought I managed to regulate my sleeping hours, this shit happens: after waking up at 6:30 in the morning and going to bed at 12:30 in the night, I wake up at 2 AM being more awaken than I ever was. Might be because of all those tiny details that cross my mind every now and then.

Hope it’s gonna get warmer in Bucharest when I get there. Not that I would be hot or anything…

Denmark, see you on your national holiday, the Ascension day, on the 13th of May.

So, there I was on Thursday morning at school when one of my classmates invited me to go with him on a trip to Skagen, Denmark’s most Nordic point. We left from Aarhus sometime around 8:30 in the morning and we only had 2 stops till Skagen. They are marked with the round dots on this map but their position is somehow approximate. Obviously, the green dots are the markers of the starting point and the arrival point..

The road to Skagen was pretty fun since our talks were interesting, to say the least. Yeah, we gossiped, drank coffee, made fun of different countries but we deserved it!

Our first stop was at a gas station close to Aalborg where we bought that bloody expensive coffee and we tried to sit down in the gas station but we were not allowed to sit because we hadn’t bought the coffees from that exact same shop. Needless to say that out of 30 tables, only one was occupied… Yeah, it did feel like in Romania. After passing by Frederiskhavn and getting off the E45 highway, we stopped to check out some sand dunes and to see one of the best places for camping during the summer, on the beach, in Denmark.

And then, we got to Skagen. Honestly, I never thought the place could be so beautiful and cold at the same time. The wind was blowing like never before. I actually felt sorry for my hair since it hadn’t been washed for 3 days and we couldn’t take any perfect shots hehe Basically, Skagen is the place where two seas meet together and waves from both seas hit eachother. Well, that’s what the story says since we were not able to get all the way there because of the following wonder of the nature that keeps Romanians and Macedonians away from Denmark’s extreme Nordic point:

We did manage to take some pictures though and they can be seen below:

And a very short video with some stop-motion pics that my friend took with his brand new camera, a Canon 500D. Hope you enjoyed seeing these pics!

Well, tomorrow I’m going to “celebrate” the first year and 2 months that I have spent in Denmark. Come to think about it, it was exactly 2 months ago when I have last been on the Romanian territory. That morning seems so far away now, when I was lead to the Otopeni Airport by my best friend back home and my brother.

I miss the times when I had something to blog about but it seems that lately my schedule spins around doing nothing, going to school and going to work. Actually, the reason why I am going to school each morning is that I don’t have anything better to do at home so I’m going to school to find out something interesting and well, to see some new faces. God, this has never happened in high school, has it?

I need an opinion or two from someone who is registered in AIESEC and has used their internship programmes. I am not sure if it’s worth paying 100 Euros to subscribe to the service of finding an internship.

Aaaaaand I miss Brasov, Bucharest and Constanta. A lot.

What shocks me about the Danes is that they are still alive. Frankly, it’s hard for me to understand how they didn’t commit mass suicide in the thousands of years that they have lived in these area. On top of that, it is hard for me to understand why studies have shown that they are the happiest nation, worldwide. It’s either I am missing something or they are all hypocrite and I don’t think they can be that hypocrite into over exaggerating their own happiness.

The mass suicide I was talking about in the previous paragraph has the weather as a main reason. Those of you reading my blog and who live or have lived in Denmark, surely understand what I mean. What we get to call here “nice weather” is most likely characterized as a “shitty weather” in almost any other country of the world while what we call “shitty weather” is a constant in Denmark.

On the other hand, I think that the only thing that keeps the Danes sane (one way or another) is their beautiful end of spring and the entire summer. It’s hard to describe in words how beautiful it is for the sun to set at 11 PM and too see it rise approximately 5 hours later, at 4:15 AM. So, if you are looking forward to a trip to Denmark, make sure to schedule it sometime between the middle of May and the end of the July. It’s God damn worth it.

We’re going to go to the nRGI arena in Aarhus today to support the Romanian women handball team against Denmark. I’m not sure on which tv channel the game is going to be aired in Denmark but in Romania it is going to be shown on Boom Sport or something like that.

I have been to the match against Sweden last year and we kind of got our asses kicked I blogged about it one year ago but meh, you know what happens when you don’t back up your articles, right?

However, i tried to google for nRGI arena today and the first result is the official page for it. I came across this picture(click on it to go to the page itself). That huge Romanian flag there looks perfect over there haha!

I went on a stroll through Copenhagen before attending the Anathema concert. First of all, I was eager to find out where the club they were going to play is. I found it in an instant since well, it’s not that hard. Imagine that the club is on Enghavevej and the S-tog stop is Enghave. You do the math! After finding it and taking pictures of the Anathema tour bus, I decided to take a walk to the Central Train Station but not before visiting the Carlsberg breweries!

It didn’t look that far away on the map but I was kind of wrong. The funny part is that a Romanian tried to steal from me on the street but due to my multi-cultural aspect and knowledge of spy movies, I managed to avoid him without declining my identity hee hee. Long story short, I realised he was Romanian cause he was talking to some other guy in Romanian, I passed him, he started following me, I realised that, stopped to look in the window of some fancy shop, he passed me and then I started following him and he was constantly looking in the back, trying to walk slower so he would get back on the position. Mneah, it doesn’t work with me, mate

I took the train from the Central station to Osterport because I was very curious to find out why is it that every Dane is so proud about their national symbol: The Little Mermaid. Although my best friend in Aarhus might be upset for reading this, I have to say it: Guys, it’s a small statue which isn’t special at all. Your country has a lot of cultural figures which deserve to be promoted even more than a guy who wrote children-stories. Please, don’t get mad at me, it’s just an objective point of view.
I left from The Little Mermaid in the search of something more.. well, let’s say spectacular. I found a bunch of swans and a beautiful church. Since I had to meet with my friend in around 45 minutes in the Norreport S-tog station, I took the map in my hands and decided to find my way there. While going there, I found yet another beautiful church but this one was made only out of marble. I wonder why it’s called “The Marble Church”. Hmm..

If you want to see more photos from the stroll, simply go to the following Flickr Set that I have created. It’s worth it and you are lucky: my face does not appear in any photo
