… or how to get goosebumps for 2 consecutive hours.

Last night I may have attended the best concert I will ever have the opportunity of seing. After a short warm-up, Anathema started their gig.

When I first heard “Empty vassels..”, the first lyrics of “Empty”, my heart started pumping faster and I felt high already. It was like the Cavannagh brothers knew that “Empty” is the first song I have ever listened from them and as I was telling my friends this morning, I will never forget the circumstances in which I had done that: while on the subway in Bucharest and.. well, the rest is history.

I tried to take more pictures. I swear I did but I just couldn’t. No, nobody would have stopped me from photographing the entire event if my memory card had allowed it. The thing is that I felt high the entire concert. It was the first time ever when the music I was listening to had merged with my state of mind, shaking all of my foundations. As I was saying, I did try to take more pictures but I just didn’t want to ruin the moment (2 hours moment I might add) by taking the camera from the backpack and missing any piece of the concert.

Honestly, I am glad that I had been to this concert by my self. In my selfishness, I wouldn’t have liked to share this experience with no-one, what-so-ever. It was just too beautiful to even think about saying any other word while watching it.

I left to the temporary home speechless on the outside but singing from all my heart on the inside. They played every tune I would have asked them to play and even more. Among the songs from the following album, their setlist contained (this is just what I can remember): Deep, Inner Silence, Forgotten Hopes, Fragile Dreams, Flying, Hope, Alone, Angelica, One Last Goodbye, Judgement (!!), Are You there?, Empty, Lost Control, Restless Oblivion, The Silent Enigma, Eternity part III and Cries in the Wind but I am not sure about this last one.

Needless to say that I would watch Anathema again for at least a couple of hundreds of time. I’ve just forgotten what I thought to have been the best gigs that I have ever seen: Moonspell? Santana? Opeth? Cannibal Corpse? Those are long gone my friend. I know you can’t compare these music gendres but I swear, last night was absolutely extraordinary.
I am now on my way to Odden to take the ferry back to Aarhus. I exceeded the budget I had planned for this trip so now I’m going to have to make some food-related compromises but as I was saying: these 4 days will always be in my heart and I know for a fact that I have what to tell my future nephews while holding them on my leg. And yes, I would sell a kidney or a lung to see Anathema live again. I swear.

I went on a stroll through Copenhagen before attending the Anathema concert. First of all, I was eager to find out where the club they were going to play is. I found it in an instant since well, it’s not that hard. Imagine that the club is on Enghavevej and the S-tog stop is Enghave. You do the math! After finding it and taking pictures of the Anathema tour bus, I decided to take a walk to the Central Train Station but not before visiting the Carlsberg breweries!

It didn’t look that far away on the map but I was kind of wrong. The funny part is that a Romanian tried to steal from me on the street but due to my multi-cultural aspect and knowledge of spy movies, I managed to avoid him without declining my identity hee hee. Long story short, I realised he was Romanian cause he was talking to some other guy in Romanian, I passed him, he started following me, I realised that, stopped to look in the window of some fancy shop, he passed me and then I started following him and he was constantly looking in the back, trying to walk slower so he would get back on the position. Mneah, it doesn’t work with me, mate

I took the train from the Central station to Osterport because I was very curious to find out why is it that every Dane is so proud about their national symbol: The Little Mermaid. Although my best friend in Aarhus might be upset for reading this, I have to say it: Guys, it’s a small statue which isn’t special at all. Your country has a lot of cultural figures which deserve to be promoted even more than a guy who wrote children-stories. Please, don’t get mad at me, it’s just an objective point of view.
I left from The Little Mermaid in the search of something more.. well, let’s say spectacular. I found a bunch of swans and a beautiful church. Since I had to meet with my friend in around 45 minutes in the Norreport S-tog station, I took the map in my hands and decided to find my way there. While going there, I found yet another beautiful church but this one was made only out of marble. I wonder why it’s called “The Marble Church”. Hmm..

If you want to see more photos from the stroll, simply go to the following Flickr Set that I have created. It’s worth it and you are lucky: my face does not appear in any photo

I am not sure whether or not it is worth going to Copenhagen next Monday for an Anathema concert. I mean, I have missed so many Anathema concerts that it would definetly worth the 600kr (for the concert ticket, bus ticket and anything else).

If there is anyone else who is willing to attend this concert (wherever you live: Aarhus, Aalborg, Odense or Copenhagen), please just let me know over here or you can find my contact information in the About section.

On the other hand, one of my classmates notified me that travelling from Billund to Birmingham is practically for free (0.01 DKK for one way) in November. Anyone who wants to go to England, drink a coffee and come back?

First of all, I didn’t write “sommerfest” in the wrong way, just so you know.

Second of all, this festival occurs once per year in the kollegiet. People just hang around and drink, play football, volleyball, eat, drink again and listen to music. There was a band playing on the stage last night which sang the most awful covers I have heard in my life. Although their choice of songs was good, it might have been the sound that made them sound like shit. Among the songs which I remember they played, I can count Livin on a Prayer and It’s my life from Bon Jovi, Survivor – Eye of the Tiger and an attempt of AC/DC – Highway to Hell.

Sorry, Parklife, but you just sounded like crap last night. I might try to see you guys live again during the Aarhus Festuge and I honestly hope that you will sound somehow better.

As for the audience, they were all acting like the audience from Guitar Hero! I swear, I had the feeling like I was simply watching a Guitar Hero video instead of attending a concert in my dormitory!

Some newsflash: Guano Apes in Bucharest, in September; Armin van Buuren + Tiesto + ATB this weekend on the Romanian seaside and Coldplay in Herning, Denmark on the 16th of August. No, I’m not going to attend all these gigs but some of you might have some interest in a particular concert.

Here are some pics from Brasov during the Waitumi Festival. It was nice, fun and I would definitely love to see Improvisneyland again (Improvisation Theatre).
